In spite of the drizzle and gray skies, Saturday's author panel discussion in St. Albans went well. I think both audience and panelists enjoyed themselves. Hopefully, we were able to encourage some people to either begin writing or persevere with writing they have already begun. It was a pleasure and a true learning experience to have prolific writer Nancy Means Wright on the panel with us "newbies" and as a passenger in my car from my home to St. Albans and back.
Toshi returned home last night from Belarus, exhausted and feeling like Dorothy - "There's no place like home. There's no place like home." His four lectures at the university conference in Gomel went well. He found that the larger the group of students and professors, the fewer the number of questions asked.
I'm looking forward to hearing my interview on Write the Book this afternoon. I hope some of you will be able to tune in. If you're too far away or nowhere near a radio, you'll be able to hear it in a couple of days on the internet whenever you want.
My stomach is reminding me that I should eat breakfast and call Delta to complain about them not keeping their promise to give Toshi a business class seat on his return connecting flight from Paris to Detroit. Flying to Amsterdam to connect on his way to Belarus, a very drunk Jordanian sitting in front of him had vomited on his pants and shoes. It was so bad that he had to buy a new pair of shoes when he arrived in Belarus. Flight personnel escorted him to a shower in the Amsterdam airport, which was kind of meaningless since he couldn't get rid of his shoes or change his pants, and the smell remained throughout the flight. All in all a nasty, unforgettable experience. To add insult to injury, their promise of an upgrade was not honored. Delta is first on our s--- list. Their response to my complaint on Toshi's behalf will decide whether we fly them in the future.
