Talk/Reading/Q&A/Display/Signing - New York City, New York - In the Thurgood Marshall Room at Morningside Gardens co-op complex on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The room is on the ground floor in the rear of 80 La Salle Street (between 125th and 123rd St.) and between Broadway and Amsterdam.
Note #1: For out-of-towners, there is the usual city street parking and a smallish 24-hour parking garage at the corner of Broadway and La Salle. - Morningside Garage, 3100 Broadway, Tel. No. (212) 749-1100. The #1 train stops at Broadway and 125th Street, one block away. Buses on Broadway and Amsterdam stop less than a block away.
Note #2: Addie lived at 70 La Salle for 21 years before moving to Evanston, Illinois for the last five years of her life. Five years ago, her life celebration was held in this same room. We hope to see many people on October 13th who knew her, as well as many who would like to meet her in the pages of Encounter with Japan: An Adventure in Love.
October 17, 2013 (Thursday) 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. Susan will chat about writing and publishing with a writers group that meets at the Saint Albans Free Library, 11 Maiden Lane, St. Albans, Vermont 05478. All are welcome. Copies of the book will be available for signing.
November 2, 2013 (Saturday) 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. Mark your calendars for an exciting, multi-author panel discussion with Q&A to be held at the St. Albans Free Library, 11 Maiden Lane, St. Albans, Vermont 05478. I, of course, will be one of the authors who will speak about the process of writing and publishing, answer questions and whose books will be on sale in plenty of time for the holidays. The moderator of the discussion will be J. P. Choquette, author of Epidemic: A Green Mountain Thriller. Fellow panelists will be Susie Caron, author of Twee'; Sarah Jo Willey, author of Lullaby for Birds; and Nancy Means Wright, author of many books—the most recent being Broken Strings.

December 6-8, 2013 (Friday - Sunday varying hours) Vermont International Festival - Essex Junction, Vermont - I'll be selling copies of my book in the JASV (Japan America Society of Vermont) booth, where there will be Japanese related activities like origami and having your name written in Japanese. The JASV will be earning 20% of the price of each book sold during the festival. If you've never attended the festival, it's a great experience filled with delicious international food, entertainment (even belly dancing!) and beautiful things for sale from all over the world.

February 11, 2014 (Tuesday) 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. I am honored to have been asked to "kick off" the PIerson Library's new "Armchair Traveler" series. I will be speaking, reading and signing books at the Pierson Library in Shelburne, Vermont, 5376 Shelburne Road. The library is on the west side of Shelburne Road. You must turn off Shelburne Road and into the shared parking lot in order to reach the entrance. Their phone number is (802) 985-5124.
March 20, 2014 (Thursday) 12:00 P.M. "Lunch and Learn" - Ohavi Zedek Synagogue - 188 North Prospect - Burlington, Vermont (Phone number (802). I will not be speaking about the book this time, but copies will be available for signing. Instead, I'll be sharing my years in Japan as the foreign wife of a Japanese in a talk entitled "A Stranger in a Stranger Land." The talk will be accompanied by slides, and, of course, the usual delicious buffet lunch provided by some of the wonderful women at the synagogue. There is no admission fee for "Lunch and Learn," but donations are very much appreciated, as they help defray the cost of the food. "Lunch and Learn" is open to the public. Everyone is welcome. You don't have to be a member of the congregation or even Jewish to come and enjoy. Interestingly, on this same date 18 years ago we moved to Vermont from Japan.

April 15, 2015 (Wednesday) 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. I will be joining about 20 other talented local authors of all genres at the South Burlington Community Library for a free "Book Night Out @ Your Library. This is a chance to meet and chat with authors and to have them sign books. It's also a perfect chance to find the perfect Mother's Day gift. From 6:30 P.M.-7:00 P.M. there will also be a free concert by the UVM Top Cats. For more information on this great event check out the South Burlington Community Library website.
April 19, 2015 (Sunday) 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. I will have a table set up to meet, greet and sign books at the JASV's (Japan-America Society of Vermont) biennial Matsuri (Matsuri '15) at St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont. If you've never been to a Matsuri, don't miss it! It's a wonderful event, and great fun for both adults and children.
